Toaster blown? Lamp not turning on? Don’t bin it! Find out if we can give it a new lease of life at our next Repair Café.
Since launching our first Repair Café Sawbridgeworth back in July 2022, we’ve extended the life of hundreds of items, diverting them from landfill, thanks to the expertise of our team of volunteer repairers.
Every two months we invite local residents to bring their broken items to be assessed. Thanks to the growing number of repairers we can fix all sorts of items - from malfunctioning household appliances to cherished cuckoo clocks! It’s also an opportunity for residents to learn new skills, as by watching the repairers in action they can find out what to do if the problem happens again.
Plus it wouldn’t be a repair cafe if we didn’t have a good selection of cake! We are so grateful to have an extended group of volunteers who ensure our visitors and repairers are kept topped up with refreshments.
All repairs are free, although we welcome donations to help us with our running costs including the hall hire (£100 per cafe), insurance (£250 per year) and various equipment for our repairers.
