Clean Air

Sawbridgeworth has had an air quality management area (AQMA) since 2015 because of unsafe levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) on the main road. 

Sustainable Sawbridgeworth is campaigning for cleaner air. This includes:

• holding Clean Air Day stalls in Bell Street

• leafleting on the A1184 and in carparks against engine idling

• advising East Herts and Hertfordshire Councils on how to encourage behaviour change to reduce air pollution including calling for upgrading footpaths for better walking and cycling routes.
